Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in backend development, and have a strong understanding of system architecture. Your proficiency in Scala or other JVM languages like Java or Kotlin has been demonstrated in a production environment, allowing you to design scalable and maintainable solutions. You are comfortable mentoring team members through pair programming or asynchronous communication, and you thrive in a low-meeting culture that values productivity and collaboration.
You possess a solid understanding of cloud technologies, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and are eager to learn about new technical concepts and services that can enhance your team's capabilities. Your experience in full-stack development means you can contribute to various aspects of the software lifecycle, from planning and scoping projects to writing and reviewing code. You are passionate about improving code quality and enjoy the challenge of crafting sophisticated backend systems that enhance user experiences.
What you'll do
As a Senior Software Engineer at Hopper, you will be responsible for planning and executing projects that contribute to the evolution of travel selling and booking technology. You will work closely with the Fintech team to innovate and enhance the Disruption and Insurance category of Hopper's product portfolio. Your day-to-day tasks will include writing and reviewing code, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating with your team to discuss ongoing projects and plan for upcoming sprints. You will also have the opportunity to learn about new GCP features and integrate them into your work, ensuring that Hopper remains at the forefront of travel technology.
