Who you are

You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in building scalable production systems. You’ve owned services from design through deployment and have a wealth of experience debugging complex distributed systems issues. Your deep expertise in Java and Spring allows you to ship high-throughput APIs that handle millions of requests, and you have strong opinions on service architecture, dependency injection, and testing strategies. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and are driven by a customer-focused mindset, ensuring that your work directly contributes to client success. Desirable

Experience with cloud services, particularly AWS, is a plus. Familiarity with AI technologies and their application in real-world scenarios will set you apart. What you'll do

As a Staff Backend Engineer at Kalepa, you will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing our AI underwriting platform. You will design and implement robust backend systems that support our innovative features, ensuring they are scalable and maintainable. You will collaborate closely with product managers and frontend engineers to define the architecture and design of new features, ensuring seamless integration between the backend and frontend components. Your responsibilities will include writing clean, efficient code, conducting code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers to foster their growth. You will also be involved in performance tuning and optimization of existing systems to improve response times and reliability. Additionally, you will participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment and monitoring, ensuring that our systems meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
