Overview
Klue is hiring a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to lead the design and development of LLM-powered retrieval and generation workflows. You'll work with technologies like Python, TensorFlow, and PyTorch to optimize search experiences. This position requires significant experience in machine learning and natural language processing.
Job Description
Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in machine learning engineering, with a strong focus on developing and optimizing large language models (LLMs) and retrieval systems. You possess deep expertise in Python and frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch, enabling you to build robust machine learning solutions that drive business insights.
Your background includes hands-on experience with natural language processing (NLP) techniques, allowing you to implement effective query understanding and agentic reasoning loops. You are skilled in data analysis and can leverage data to inform your engineering decisions, ensuring high-quality outputs.
You thrive in collaborative environments, working cross-functionally with product and infrastructure teams to align technical direction with product goals. Your mentoring skills shine as you guide team members in best practices for building machine learning systems, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Desirable
Experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and hybrid retrieval systems is a plus, as is familiarity with evaluation frameworks for measuring relevance and quality in machine learning outputs. You are comfortable driving experimentation strategies to enhance retrieval effectiveness and optimize workflows for low-latency responses.
What you'll do
In this role, you will architect, design, and implement retrieval pipelines and agentic workflows that enable users to generate competitive insights. You will lead the development of evaluation frameworks, both offline and human-in-the-loop, to measure and improve the relevance, quality, and latency of search results.
You will drive experimentation with query rewriting, expansion, and classification to enhance retrieval effectiveness, ensuring that users receive fast, accurate, and trusted search experiences. Your work will involve optimizing LLM workflows by designing prompt structures and retrieval strategies that cater to user needs.
Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with product and infrastructure teams to ensure that technical decisions align with product goals. You will also mentor and provide technical guidance to team members, establishing best practices for building machine learning systems and fostering a culture of innovation.
What we offer
At Klue, we are committed to building a culture that values collaboration, creativity, and continuous learning. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology that shapes the future of competitive intelligence. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
Join us in Toronto and be part of a team that is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what is possible with machine learning and AI. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with a supportive environment that fosters professional growth.
