Overview

Liquid AI is hiring a Member of Technical Staff - ML Research Engineer to build data pipelines that power foundation models. You'll work with Python and data engineering principles to ensure high-quality datasets. This position requires experience in machine learning and data quality.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in data engineering and machine learning, with experience building production data pipelines that handle web-scale datasets. You understand the importance of data quality — filtering, deduplication, augmentation, and bias detection are second nature to you. You stay current with the latest public datasets and trends in the field, regularly monitoring platforms like HuggingFace and arXiv to identify valuable resources. You are a problem solver who can work independently, driving initiatives that enhance the team's capabilities and impact.

You have experience working with large-scale datasets, processing trillions of tokens, and understand the scaling laws that govern model performance. Your technical skills include proficiency in Python and familiarity with data processing frameworks. You are passionate about ensuring that the data you work with meets the highest standards of quality and relevance, as you know that this directly influences the performance of machine learning models.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining data pipelines that support Liquid AI's foundation models across various modalities, including vision and audio. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect, filter, and synthesize high-quality datasets for pre-training and mid-training processes. Your work will directly impact the quality of models, ensuring they are trained on the best possible data. You will also engage in post-training reinforcement learning and contribute to multimodal data challenges, leveraging your expertise to enhance model performance.

You will be expected to monitor and evaluate the quality of datasets continuously, implementing strategies for improvement and ensuring that data remains relevant and useful. You will work closely with other engineers and researchers to identify opportunities for innovation and optimization within the data pipelines. Your contributions will be crucial in scaling Liquid AI's capabilities and ensuring that the models perform reliably across various applications.
