What you'll do

In this role, you will lead the technical direction for mechanical systems across Microsoft’s global datacenter portfolio — you will set standards and best practices for cooling equipment and strategies, ensuring that all projects meet the highest quality and efficiency benchmarks. You will collaborate with engineering teams to design and implement mechanical systems that support the scalability and reliability of Microsoft’s cloud services.

You will be responsible for mentoring and developing internal mechanical SMEs, providing guidance and support as they navigate complex projects — your leadership will help cultivate a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the team. You will also engage with external engineering consultants to ensure that all mechanical designs align with Microsoft’s operational standards and sustainability goals.

Your role will involve conducting thorough assessments of existing mechanical systems and identifying opportunities for optimization — you will analyze performance data and implement changes that enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.
