Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in bioinformatics and experience in building and scaling scientific workflows β€” your expertise allows you to transform raw biological data into clean, reproducible outputs that drive impactful insights. You are proficient in Nextflow and have experience with various biological data modalities including microarray, imaging, spatial transcriptomics, genomics, and epigenomics. Your collaborative nature enables you to work effectively with cross-functional teams, ensuring data harmonization and schema alignment across projects. You thrive in environments where you can tackle high-impact problems and enjoy the challenge of architecting robust scientific pipelines.

Desirable

Experience with modality-specific validation and quality control layers is a plus, as is familiarity with AI-driven data analysis tools. You understand the importance of data integrity and are passionate about leveraging technology to accelerate scientific discovery. Your ability to communicate complex concepts clearly makes you a valuable team member, and you are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse work environment.

What you'll do

In this role, you will own the workflows that power Mithrl’s AI Co-Scientist, ensuring that scientists can ask questions and receive accurate, data-backed answers instantly. You will architect and implement Nextflow and nf-core style pipelines, focusing on the transformation of messy biological data into actionable insights. Collaborating closely with the Tabular Data Team and Knowledge Curation Team, you will ensure that data harmonization, variable ID mapping, and schema alignment are maintained throughout the processing pipelines. Your work will directly contribute to the acceleration of drug discovery and the delivery of new medicines to patients.

You will also be responsible for implementing modality-specific validation and quality control layers, ensuring that the outputs of the pipelines are reliable and reproducible. As a lead engineer, you will mentor junior team members and contribute to the continuous improvement of the technical stack. Your role will involve staying updated with the latest advancements in bioinformatics and AI technologies, applying this knowledge to enhance the capabilities of Mithrl’s systems.
