Who you are

You have 5-7 years of experience building software professionally, with a strong foundation in Java and Python. Your background includes at least 1-2 years of managing software engineers, where you've successfully guided teams to deliver high-quality software. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with product development teams to continuously deliver value to internal customers. Your technical expertise allows you to balance hands-on engineering work with managerial responsibilities, ensuring that your team is effective and efficient.

You possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to establish positive relationships with your direct reports and facilitate planning and execution of work. You understand the importance of mentoring and guiding your team members, helping them grow in their roles and improve their performance. You are proactive in identifying and fixing bugs, as well as building new features for internal platforms, contributing to the overall success of your team.

What you'll do

As a Lead Engineer at MongoDB, you will manage a team of 3-4 software engineers, facilitating their planning, execution, and delivery of work. You will collaborate with other leads to prioritize your team’s work for maximum impact, ensuring that internal tools and platforms are built to the highest standards. Your role will involve designing and building internal tooling to improve efficiency and workflows, directly contributing to the productivity of your coworkers.

In your first three months, you will focus on establishing positive relationships with your team, providing guidance on how to effectively get their jobs done. By the six-month mark, you will enable your team to deliver high-quality software efficiently and consistently, while also personally contributing to solving actionable bugs and building new internal features. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the team.
