Who you are
You are a proven technical expert with a strong background in computer vision and machine learning, particularly in the context of autonomous driving technology. You have experience developing software for geometric computer vision, including geometric camera models and camera calibration. Your passion for Level 4 autonomous driving technology drives you to tackle intellectual challenges and pursue career growth in a fast-growing company.
You possess a deep understanding of visual simultaneous localization and mapping (VSLAM) and structure from motion, allowing you to effectively contribute to projects that enhance the capabilities of self-driving vehicles. Your collaborative spirit enables you to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams, including LIDAR-based localization and mapping, to improve vehicle performance on the road.
What you'll do
As a Principal Engineer on the Spatial Intelligence Team, you will define, lead, and execute computer vision-based mapping projects that enhance the self-driving vehicles' ability to efficiently map roadways and localize themselves using vehicle and remote sensing data. You will develop innovative methods to monitor environmental changes and update maps accordingly, ensuring that our vehicles operate with the most accurate information available.
Your role will involve integrating visual maps with LIDAR-derived maps to create consistent fused world maps, which are crucial for the safe operation of autonomous vehicles. You will also be responsible for productionizing and deploying solutions onto autonomous vehicle fleets, ensuring that the technology is robust and reliable in real-world scenarios.
Collaboration will be key in your role, as you will work closely with LIDAR-based localization and mapping teams, as well as perception teams, to enhance the on-road performance of our vehicles. Your expertise will guide the team in overcoming technical challenges and achieving project milestones.
