Overview

NEORIS is seeking a Finance Operations Engineer to manage cloud budgets and costs. You'll work with AWS tools and implement cost optimization strategies. This position requires 3-6 years of experience in FinOps or Cloud Cost Management.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 3 to 6 years of experience in FinOps, Cloud Cost Management, or Cloud Operations — you've successfully managed cloud budgets and costs, ensuring financial transparency and efficiency in cloud spending. Your technical knowledge includes Cost Management in AWS, which is essential for this role. You are skilled in tagging both technical and financial aspects, allowing for accurate cost attribution and reporting.

You understand the importance of implementing and maintaining tagging policies, budgets, alerts, and mechanisms for proactive control — your analytical skills enable you to analyze CUR and Cost Explorer metrics to identify savings opportunities. You are familiar with unit economics, including costs per user, transaction, product, and event, which helps in defining and maintaining economic units effectively.

Your experience includes executing optimization recommendations such as rightsizing, autoscaling, and storage policies — you have a keen eye for eliminating idle resources and ensuring that cloud resources are utilized efficiently. You are also knowledgeable about governance policies, including SCPs, limits, alerts, and anomaly detection, which are crucial for maintaining control over cloud expenditures.

You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with engineering teams to align costs with architecture and efficient patterns — promoting a data-driven FinOps culture is part of your approach, as you believe in making cost-benefit decisions based on solid data.

What you'll do

In this role, you will manage cloud budgets and costs across various domains, pipelines, or services — your responsibilities will include implementing and maintaining tagging policies, cost attribution, and consumption reporting. You will configure and monitor budgets, alerts, and cost anomalies, ensuring proactive control over cloud expenditures.

You will execute recommendations for optimization, focusing on rightsizing, autoscaling, and storage policies — your analytical skills will be put to use as you analyze CUR and Cost Explorer metrics to detect opportunities for savings. You will define and maintain unit economics, ensuring clarity on costs associated with users, transactions, products, and events.

Additionally, you will implement processes for chargeback and showback to enhance financial transparency — collaborating with engineering teams will be essential to align costs with architectural decisions and efficient patterns. You will promote a FinOps culture based on data and operational discipline, making cost-benefit decisions that drive value for the organization.
