Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in site reliability engineering or a related field, with a strong focus on maintaining high availability and performance in live streaming environments. Your expertise in AWS and container orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes allows you to design and implement scalable solutions that meet the demands of live events.
You possess a deep understanding of observability and monitoring practices, utilizing tools such as Prometheus and Grafana to ensure system reliability. Your proficiency in programming languages like Python enables you to automate processes and enhance system performance effectively.
You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to prepare, validate, and execute live streaming initiatives. Your strong communication skills allow you to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring everyone is aligned on project goals.
You are passionate about driving innovation and continuous improvement in resilience and automation, always seeking new ways to enhance the live streaming experience for users. You understand the importance of fault injection testing and performance analysis in maintaining service reliability.
Desirable
Experience with live streaming technologies and protocols is a plus, as is familiarity with functional and performance testing methodologies. A background in software development can also be beneficial, as it complements your SRE skills and enhances your ability to collaborate with engineering teams.
What you'll do
In this role, you will be responsible for the reliability of Netflix's live streaming pipeline, overseeing transmission, encoding, packaging, and origin services. You will implement and automate testing processes to ensure the highest quality of service during live events, analyzing results to drive improvements.
