Job Description

At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.

At Netflix, we want to entertain the world and are constantly innovating on how entertainment is imagined, created, and delivered to a global audience. Engineering teams within Netflix work hard every day to scale and innovate content production and member experiences in an ever-growing complex software landscape.

We support Netflix's enterprise needs including Finance, Talent, Tech Support, and Customer Support to ensure smooth operations. Our products enable the entire workflow of content production, from pitch to play, and provide innovative new ways to develop and manage entertainment at scale. The team’s work is critical to supporting the creation of movies and TV series that will thrill the world!

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Work cross-functionally to build, test, deploy, and launch UIs that operationalize our workflows at scale.

  • Participate in product reviews and team meetings, providing technical insight. Help scope, estimate, and prioritize between conflicting needs.

  • Evaluate new technologies and approaches to streamline and improve our rapid application development tooling and conventions.

  • Regularly learn and influence new systems and tools as the Netflix platform and ecosystem evolve.

  • Participate in our on-call rotation and lead the incident reviews.

  • Effectively communicate complex technical issues and solutions to stakeholders

  • Apply engineering best practices to guide projects and decisions, mentor team members,

  • Live company values, promoting an inclusive team environment, and ensuring high standards of conduct and performance across teams.

You will enjoy working with us if you:

  • Are passionate about user experience and have an eye for improving UIs, passionate about building intuitive user interfaces in close partnership with UX Designers and Product Managers

  • Love brainstorming with fellow Backend and UI engineers, product designers, and product managers, and directly with our users, to understand what they want, figure out what they really need, and finally, what we should build.

  • Eager to identify business opportunities that positively impact the organization's bottom line.

  • Strive to embrace best practices and are always searching for opportunities to continually improve.

  • Are selfless and willing to flex across the stack or into a new domain to help a teammate when needed, never thinking “that’s someone else’s job”.You are driving the resolution of complex problems and leading strategic projects that enhance team capabilities and impact, operating across functional boundaries.

  • You are deepening technical mastery to implement sustainable solutions, optimize system efficiency, and make informed decisions on system quality, reliability, and performance.

We would love to work with you if you:

  • Passionate and opinionated about UI Engineering and specific technologies to it, can make, influence, and inform architectural decisions while effectively farming for dissent.

  • Are adept at building enterprise applications with HTML/JavaScript/TypeScript/CSS. We currently build our user experiences with React, GraphQL, and several more libraries and frameworks depending on the product.

  • Are curious to work with the Hawkins Design System, adopting reusable components as part of the product and contributing to their implementation.

  • Have a strong sense of ownership, independence, bias towards action, and inclination for collaboration. We live by our values, learn more about our unique culture here.

  • Are passionate about web performance, observability and developer experience tools.

Spotlight on CBP Engineering Teams:

Content Planning Engineering
The Content Planning Engineering (CPE) team is responsible for building products that are used for forecasting the overall Netflix content spend. As one of the most upstream products in a title’s pitch-to-play lifecycle, the forecasted data is critical to the planning and operations of a lot of downstream teams. We integrate with many other engineering and data science solutions to help power the overall Netflix content creation.

Content Scheduling Engineering

The Content Scheduling Engineering team builds applications and services that provide data and insights to content schedulers, enabling them to optimize the content slate and maximize member impact. Scheduling is a challenging, multidimensional optimization problem involving several key aspects: ensuring a consistent flow of titles for diverse global audiences, mitigating launch risks, informing licensing teams about content strategies, and supporting the tracking of external launches and events. We partner closely with Content Finance, Data Science, Productions and various other engineering teams to achieve our objectives.

Localization Technologies

The Localization Tech team extends the reach of our content by localizing it into 35 languages across dubbing, subtitling, closed captions, and more. We develop platforms that manage and streamline logistics across the entire localization lifecycle, enabling partners to focus on strategic and creative decision-making. Together with our partner teams across the localization organization, we ensure Netflix feels immersive, authentic, and meaningful for members in every language.

A few more things about us:
As a team, we come from many different countries, and our fields of education range from the humanities to engineering to computer science. Our team includes product managers, program managers, designers, full-stack developers, distributed systems engineers, and data scientists. Folks have the opportunity to wear different hats, should they choose to. We strongly believe this diversity has helped us build an inclusive and empathetic environment, and we look forward to adding your perspective to the mix!

Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $320,000.00 - $500,000.00. This compensation range will vary based on location.
