Job Description
Who you are
You have a PhD in machine learning, computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, or a related field, and possess hands-on experience in the research, development, and implementation of machine learning methods. Your expertise includes working with synthetic sensor data, such as photorealistic images and realistic lidar or radar. You are passionate about advancing the field of robotics and autonomy, and you thrive in collaborative environments where you can engage with cross-functional teams.
You have a strong foundation in programming, particularly in Python, and are familiar with various machine learning frameworks and tools. Your analytical skills allow you to assess the realism and utility of synthetic sensor data effectively. You are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace and understand the importance of psychological safety for all team members.
Desirable
Experience with NeRF or Gaussian splatting techniques is a plus, as is familiarity with sensor data analysis and calibration. You are eager to contribute to innovative projects that push the boundaries of self-driving technology and enhance the capabilities of autonomous vehicles.
What you'll do
As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Nuro, you will research, develop, and implement state-of-the-art synthetic sensor simulation methods. Your work will involve analyzing and characterizing the realism and utility of synthetic sensor data, answering critical questions about sensor data and autonomy performance. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across autonomy, infrastructure, and systems teams to define map needs and requirements.
You will be responsible for designing algorithms that generate synthetic sensor data, ensuring that the models you create are robust and scalable. Your contributions will directly impact the development of Nuro's self-driving technology, helping to make autonomy accessible to all. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and share your knowledge with the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
