Overview

Nuro is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to develop and integrate hybrid cloud performance benchmarking systems for their self-driving technology. You'll work with Java and machine learning to enhance autonomy feature development. This role requires significant experience in software engineering and cloud infrastructure.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in developing and integrating complex systems. Your background includes working with cloud infrastructure and performance benchmarking, allowing you to understand the nuances of software and hardware integration. You are familiar with machine learning concepts and how they apply to performance testing and optimization. You thrive in collaborative environments and are committed to fostering inclusion and psychological safety within your team.

You possess strong programming skills, particularly in Java, and have experience with cloud technologies. Your ability to analyze and optimize system performance is complemented by your understanding of machine learning models and their impact on system latency and performance. You are detail-oriented and have a knack for problem-solving, especially when it comes to complex software challenges.

Desirable

Experience with automated testing frameworks and performance benchmarking tools is a plus. Familiarity with robotics or autonomous systems will help you excel in this role. You are also encouraged to bring your unique perspective and ideas to the team, contributing to a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for the development and integration of a hybrid cloud performance benchmarking cluster that is essential for testing autonomy features. You will collaborate with engineers to create simulated environments that evaluate the performance of various machine learning models and their effects on system latency. Your work will directly influence the efficiency and effectiveness of the autonomy feature development process.

You will engage in hands-on development, ensuring that the infrastructure supports automated workflows for benchmarking and data post-processing. This includes creating systems that can simulate different latency profiles and evaluate the performance of hardware and software integrations. You will also be involved in answering critical questions about system performance, such as the impact of new ML models on GPU contention and sensor-to-actuation latency.

Your contributions will help shape the future of self-driving technology, as you work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the systems you develop meet the high standards required for autonomous vehicles. You will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and share your expertise, fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment.

What we offer

At Nuro, you will be part of a mission-driven company that is at the forefront of self-driving technology. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will work in a supportive environment that values diversity and encourages innovation. Join us in making autonomy accessible to all and be part of a team that is shaping the future of transportation.
