Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong background in designing and developing scalable systems. Your expertise in Java allows you to create high-performance applications that meet complex business needs. You understand the intricacies of authorization models and have experience working with multi-region SaaS platforms.

You are familiar with AWS and have a solid understanding of cloud architecture, enabling you to build secure and efficient solutions. Your experience with performance optimization and benchmarking ensures that you can meet stringent latency requirements. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams to solve complex engineering challenges.

You are a lifelong learner who embraces new technologies and methodologies. You are comfortable with ambiguity and can adapt to changing requirements while maintaining a focus on delivering high-quality solutions. You value diverse perspectives and are committed to fostering an inclusive team culture.

Desirable

Experience with Relationship-Based Access Control (ReBAC) is a plus, as it aligns with the core focus of the FGA team. Familiarity with distributed caching strategies and query optimization will enhance your ability to contribute effectively to the team.

What you'll do

As a Staff Software Engineer on the FGA Core team, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable and secure authorization solutions. You will architect the FGA platform to ensure extreme performance, establishing millisecond-level p99 check latencies while handling millions of queries per second. Your role will involve leading the design and continuous benchmarking of core data models and query paths.

You will collaborate closely with product managers and other engineers to define requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Your focus on performance optimization will drive the relentless improvement of the system, ensuring it meets the high availability and reliability standards expected by customers.

You will mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and expertise to help them grow in their roles. Your contributions will directly impact the success of the FGA platform, enabling customers to implement flexible and high-performance authorization solutions.
