Who you are
You have a strong background in hardware engineering, particularly in the context of AI workloads β your experience includes working with silicon and system-level solutions that meet the demands of advanced AI applications. You are comfortable operating at the intersection of model research and silicon architecture, and you thrive on tackling complex problems that require innovative solutions. Your expertise in programming languages such as Python and C++ allows you to write quantization kernels and debug performance issues effectively. You possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to collaborate closely with both research and hardware teams to ensure that hardware is optimized for AI models.
Desirable
Experience with embedded systems and familiarity with performance simulation tools would be advantageous. A background in AI or machine learning would also enhance your ability to contribute to the teamβs goals. You are proactive in seeking out challenges and are committed to driving projects to production.
What you'll do
In this role, you will build on OpenAI's roofline simulator to analyze evolving workloads and quantify the impact of architectural decisions on performance. You will be responsible for debugging gaps between performance simulations and real-world outcomes, ensuring that the silicon developed meets the high standards required for AI applications. Your work will involve writing and optimizing quantization kernels, as well as evaluating system architecture trade-offs to support technology pathfinding. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software and research partners, to co-design hardware that is tightly integrated with AI models. Your hands-on approach will be essential in driving projects from conception through to production, and you will play a key role in shaping the future of OpenAI's silicon technology.
