OpenAI is seeking a Technical Program Manager for their Trustworthy AI team to drive interdisciplinary programs and manage external assurance initiatives. This role requires strong communication skills and experience in program management within technical and research environments.

Who you are
You have a strong background in program management, particularly in technical and research settings, with experience in managing strategic academic collaborations. Your understanding of AI safety research and evaluations allows you to effectively communicate complex findings and translate them into actionable insights. You excel in partnership management and cross-functional coordination, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned and informed throughout the project lifecycle. Your communication skills are top-notch, enabling you to synthesize findings and present them in a way that is relevant to decision-makers. You are proactive in identifying new partners for external collaborations and have a knack for building strategic research partnerships that drive innovation.
What you'll do
As a Technical Program Manager on the Trustworthy AI team, you will be responsible for driving interdisciplinary programs in collaboration with external partners. You will strategize and execute the vision for strategic research partnerships, ensuring that OpenAI's safety ecosystem is robust and effective. Your role will involve managing external assurance programs, including third-party assessments and facilitating independent academic research. You will work closely with both internal researchers and engineers, as well as external community members, to initiate new projects, set ambitious goals, and drive execution across multiple teams. Your ability to coordinate efforts and manage timelines will be crucial in ensuring the success of these initiatives. You will also be responsible for creating and maintaining documentation that outlines project goals, milestones, and outcomes, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the process.
