Overview
Optiver is hiring a Senior FPGA Engineer to develop low latency execution and network optimization platforms. You'll work closely with internal stakeholders to implement key features in execution applications. This role requires expertise in C and C++.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in FPGA development with experience in low latency systems — you've successfully designed and implemented solutions that optimize execution and network performance. Your proficiency in C and C++ allows you to write efficient code that meets the demands of high-frequency trading environments. You are comfortable working in a collaborative setting, engaging with various teams including trading, risk, and compliance to understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions.
You possess a solid understanding of Linux environments — your experience with system-level programming and debugging has equipped you with the skills to troubleshoot complex issues effectively. You thrive in fast-paced environments where quick decision-making and adaptability are essential. Your communication skills enable you to articulate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable
Experience with hardware description languages (HDLs) such as VHDL or Verilog is a plus, as it enhances your ability to work on FPGA design and implementation. Familiarity with trading systems and financial markets will give you an edge in understanding the context of your work and its impact on trading performance.
What you'll do
As a Senior FPGA Engineer at Optiver, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing our low latency execution platforms — your work will directly influence the efficiency of our trading operations. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications, ensuring that our systems meet the rigorous demands of high-frequency trading.
You will take ownership of the development cycle, from initial design through to testing, deployment, and monitoring — your contributions will help us maintain a competitive edge in the market. You will implement key features that enhance order management, risk boundary checks, and exchange connectivity, ensuring that our systems operate with minimal latency.
Your role will also involve continuous improvement of our existing systems — you will analyze performance metrics and identify areas for optimization, implementing changes that enhance system reliability and speed. You will participate in code reviews and provide mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration within the team.
What we offer
At Optiver, you will be part of a dynamic team that values innovation and collaboration — we offer a supportive environment where your contributions are recognized and rewarded. You will have access to cutting-edge technology and resources that empower you to excel in your role.
