Job Description
Who you are
You are a highly motivated student pursuing a Masters or PhD in machine learning, computer science, finance, mathematics, or other quantitative disciplines. You have demonstrated the ability to conduct independent research utilizing machine learning over large, possibly noisy, data sets. Your strong analytical and quantitative skills, combined with a detail-oriented mindset, make you an ideal candidate for this role. Proficiency in Python or C++ and experience in a Linux environment are essential for success in this internship.
Desirable
While not required, any additional experience in quantitative finance or trading will be considered a plus. You are committed to the highest ethical standards and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, which will help you collaborate effectively with your team.
What you'll do
As a Quantitative Researcher Intern at Point72, you will be part of a collaborative team focused on developing innovative quantitative equity trading signals. Your responsibilities will include conducting full pipeline signal research, from ideation through implementation and backtesting to eventual application. You will adapt and extend existing results in the field of machine learning and conduct novel research as needed to potentially develop new signals that may enhance portfolio returns. Analyzing very large data sets to extract features useful for predictive models will be a key part of your role, as will providing research assistance to the team and helping improve the teamβs research infrastructure.
