Design Engineer

Who you are

You are a Design Engineer with a strong ability to bridge the gap between design and engineering. You thrive on building production-quality prototypes that allow for testing and validation of major product shifts across mobile and web platforms. Your experience includes industrializing tooling and automation processes, including AI workflows and Figma-to-code scripts, to enhance the efficiency of design systems and operations. You are comfortable with ambiguity and can define your own roadmap, embodying a 'builder' mentality that drives you to get things done without waiting for permission. You have a passion for mentoring and influencing design teams on technical constraints and modern workflows, fostering a culture of technical fluency.

Desirable

Experience with cutting-edge stacks and tools such as SwiftUI, React Native, and AI tools like Cursor and Claude Code is a plus. You are eager to contribute to the design system by ensuring perfect parity between design assets and production code across the entire platform.

What you'll do

As the first Design Engineer at Qonto, you will have the unique opportunity to define and shape this role within a mature product structure. You will tackle high-impact challenges immediately, such as a major interface overhaul and automating localization processes. Your role will involve enabling designers to transition from static files to code-based deliverables significantly faster, thus accelerating the team's quality and output. You will collaborate closely with product design teams to influence their workflows and ensure that technical constraints are understood and integrated into the design process. You will also contribute to the design system, ensuring that all design assets are accurately reflected in production code, thereby enhancing the overall user experience across Qonto's platforms.
