Who you are
You are a recent graduate or student in computer science, mathematics, or a related field with a solid foundation in software development. Your coursework, research projects, or open-source contributions demonstrate your excellent software development knowledge. You have proficiency in C++ and a strong understanding of object-oriented design principles. Your grasp of data structures and algorithms is robust, allowing you to tackle complex problems effectively.
You have exposure to network programming, particularly TCP/IP, and are familiar with concurrent programming concepts, including multi-threaded applications. Your experience with Linux/Unix environments enhances your ability to develop and test software efficiently. You possess brilliant problem-solving abilities and a passion for new technologies and ideas, which drives your desire to innovate in the field.
Strong communication skills are essential for you, as you will collaborate with other software developers, quantitative traders, and researchers. You thrive in a team-oriented environment where everyone is approachable and willing to share knowledge. You are eager to learn and grow within a technology-driven proprietary trading firm.
Desirable
While not required, any additional experience with distributed systems or high-throughput applications would be a plus. Familiarity with risk management systems or real-time trade management concepts can also set you apart as a candidate.
What you'll do
In your role as a Junior Software Developer at Quantbox, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing proprietary software that includes low-latency high-throughput exchange connectivity layers. You will work on distributed computation optimized backtesting and simulation systems capable of handling terabytes of data. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of risk systems that facilitate real-time trade management and risk analysis.
Your day-to-day tasks will involve identifying complex problems and coming up with innovative solutions, advocating for their implementation within your team. You will collaborate closely with other software developers, quantitative traders, and researchers to ensure that the software you develop meets the high standards required in the trading environment. You will also participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of the software development process.
