Reddit is hiring a Senior Research Engineer for Post-training & Evaluation to lead the evaluation of foundational Large Language Models. You'll work at the intersection of applied research and massive-scale infrastructure. This role is fully remote within the United States.

Who you are
You have a strong background in AI and machine learning, with experience in model evaluation and post-training processes. Your expertise allows you to architect effective feedback loops that enhance model performance and understanding of unique community dynamics. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with engineers and safety experts to drive impactful AI initiatives.
You possess a deep understanding of the intricacies involved in training and evaluating large-scale models, particularly in the context of community-driven platforms. Your analytical skills enable you to assess model outputs critically and iteratively improve them based on user interactions and feedback.
What you'll do
As a Senior Research Engineer, you will take ownership of the evaluation phase of model development, ensuring that the foundational models align with Reddit's unique culture and user needs. You will collaborate with the pre-training team to establish robust evaluation metrics and methodologies that reflect the effectiveness of the models in real-world scenarios.
You will be responsible for designing experiments that test model performance across various applications, including Safety & Moderation, Search, and Ads. Your insights will directly influence the development of user products, ensuring they are safe, effective, and tailored to the Reddit community.
You will work with a team of distinguished engineers and safety experts, contributing to the strategic initiative of building Reddit-native foundational Large Language Models. Your role will involve continuous learning and adaptation, as you analyze feedback and refine models to enhance their understanding of the diverse conversations happening on the platform.
