Overview

Ripple is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team focused on infrastructure and internal development platforms. You'll work with technologies like AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes to ensure reliability and performance. This role requires strong leadership and technical skills in infrastructure management.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on infrastructure and site reliability — you've successfully managed teams and projects that prioritize availability and performance. Your background includes a deep understanding of cloud technologies, particularly AWS, and you are skilled in using tools like Docker and Kubernetes to streamline development processes.

You possess strong leadership qualities — you inspire and motivate your team to achieve their best work while fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. You have a keen eye for assessing reliability, availability, and latency, ensuring that your team has the right instrumentation in place to monitor and enhance system performance.

Your technical expertise extends to scripting and automation, particularly with Python and Terraform — you understand how to build and maintain internal developer platforms that facilitate efficient workflows. You are adept at making informed trade-offs between complexity and functionality, ensuring that your team can deliver high-quality solutions without unnecessary bottlenecks.

You are a proactive communicator who can bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders — you understand the importance of aligning engineering efforts with business goals and can articulate complex concepts in an accessible manner. You thrive in environments that challenge you to innovate and push the boundaries of what's possible in infrastructure management.

Desirable

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and monitoring tools is a plus — you understand how to implement best practices that enhance the development lifecycle. Familiarity with site reliability engineering principles will help you lead your team effectively in maintaining high standards of service reliability.

What you'll do

As the Engineering Manager at Ripple, you will lead a team of infrastructure engineers dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the internal development platform — your focus will be on ensuring that the infrastructure is robust, scalable, and secure. You will oversee the development and reliability of key infrastructural components, including compute, build, integration, and deployment processes.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize engineering initiatives that align with business objectives — your role will involve making strategic decisions about what to build and why, ensuring that your team can deliver impactful solutions efficiently. You will implement best practices for monitoring and assessing system performance, using your expertise to drive continuous improvement.

Your leadership will empower your team to take ownership of their work — you will provide guidance and support, helping them to develop their skills and advance their careers. You will foster an environment of collaboration and innovation, encouraging your team to experiment and explore new technologies that can enhance the internal developer experience.

You will also play a key role in shaping the engineering culture at Ripple — you will advocate for best practices in site reliability and infrastructure management, ensuring that your team is equipped to meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving technological landscape. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of Ripple's engineering efforts.

What we offer

Ripple provides a dynamic work environment where you can make a significant impact on the global financial system — you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and collaborate with talented professionals who are passionate about their work. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development.

Join us at Ripple and be part of a mission-driven team that is committed to creating greater economic fairness and opportunity for people around the world.
