Overview

Notion is hiring an Engineering Manager for their Developer Platform team to scale APIs and support AI applications. You'll work with technologies like REST APIs and AWS. This role requires strong leadership and technical skills.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in engineering management, leading teams to build and scale complex software systems. Your background includes a strong technical foundation, particularly in API development and cloud technologies, which allows you to guide your team effectively. You understand the nuances of building developer platforms and have experience with REST APIs, enabling you to support a diverse range of developers from hobbyists to enterprise clients.

You are passionate about fostering a collaborative team environment, where engineers feel empowered to innovate and contribute. Your leadership style emphasizes mentorship and professional growth, ensuring that each team member can thrive in their role. You are comfortable navigating the challenges of scaling a platform and are adept at balancing technical and managerial responsibilities.

Your experience with AI technologies and automation tools positions you well to lead initiatives that enhance Notion's developer ecosystem. You are excited about the potential of AI to transform how developers interact with platforms and are eager to help shape this future.

Desirable

Experience with agile methodologies and project management tools is a plus, as you will be working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions. Familiarity with Notion's products and services will help you align your team's efforts with the company's mission and goals.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead the engineering team responsible for developing and scaling Notion's developer platform. You will oversee the design and implementation of REST APIs that serve as the backbone of the platform, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and user-friendly. Your leadership will guide the team in building intelligent workflows and custom automations that enhance the user experience.

You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define the roadmap for the developer platform, prioritizing features that align with user needs and business objectives. Your ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders will be crucial in driving alignment across teams.

As an Engineering Manager, you will conduct regular one-on-ones with your team members, providing feedback and support to help them achieve their professional goals. You will also be responsible for hiring and onboarding new engineers, ensuring that the team continues to grow and evolve.

You will monitor the performance of the developer platform, using data-driven insights to inform decisions and improve the overall user experience. Your focus on continuous improvement will help the team adapt to changing technologies and user expectations.

What we offer

Notion offers a highly competitive cash compensation package, along with equity and benefits that reflect the value we place on our employees. You will have the opportunity to work in a vibrant office environment in San Francisco, where in-person collaboration is encouraged. We believe that diverse teams build better products, and we welcome applicants from all backgrounds.

Join us at Notion, where you will have the chance to make a significant impact on our developer platform and help shape the future of how teams work together. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value curiosity and a growth mindset just as much as technical skills.
