Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong background in building scalable applications and systems. Your expertise includes working with Java and JavaScript, and you have a solid understanding of REST APIs and cloud technologies like AWS. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy tackling complex challenges that require end-to-end ownership of implementation across various domains.
You are familiar with containerization technologies such as Docker, which you have used to streamline development and deployment processes. Your experience with databases, particularly PostgreSQL, allows you to design efficient data models and optimize queries for performance. You understand the importance of writing clean, maintainable code and are committed to following best practices in software development.
You are a proactive problem solver who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. You have experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including firmware and frontend developers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet customer needs. You are passionate about leveraging technology to improve operational efficiency and drive innovation.
Desirable

What you'll do
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Vehicle Connectivity team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing features that enhance the connectivity of Samsara's Vehicle Gateway. You will work closely with firmware and frontend teams to ensure seamless integration between devices, vehicles, and the cloud. Your role will involve end-to-end ownership of the software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment and monitoring.
You will collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define feature specifications and prioritize development tasks. Your technical expertise will guide architectural decisions and influence the direction of the product. You will participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers and ensuring high-quality code standards are maintained.
In this role, you will also be involved in troubleshooting and resolving production issues, ensuring that the systems you build are reliable and performant. You will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and helping them grow in their careers.
