You'll gain hands-on experience with hardware systems, sensors, and actuators in Vancouver. This role is ideal for candidates with a background in mechanical or mechatronics engineering.
Job Description
Who you are
You are a recent graduate or student pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or engineering physics — you have a solid understanding of hardware systems and a passion for robotics. Your hands-on experience with prototyping and machining sets you apart, and you are eager to apply your knowledge in a practical setting. You possess excellent problem-solving skills and a keen interest in sensors and actuators, which are crucial for the development of advanced robotic systems.
Your background includes coursework or projects related to fluid mechanics and heat transfer — you understand the principles that govern mechanical mechanisms and are excited to explore how these concepts apply to robotics. You are a quick learner and thrive in collaborative environments, ready to contribute to a team focused on innovation and excellence in hardware development.
Desirable
Experience with fast prototyping techniques and familiarity with instrumentation will enhance your contributions to the team. If you have worked on projects involving control systems or robotics, that will be a significant advantage. You are motivated to learn and grow, and you are open to feedback and mentorship from experienced engineers.
What you'll do
As a Hardware R&D Intern at Sanctuary AI, you will work closely with the Hardware R&D Lead to support the development and optimization of actuation systems and sensors. Your role will involve hands-on work with hardware components, where you will assist in the design and testing of prototypes. You will gain valuable insights into the integration of sensors and actuators within robotic systems, contributing to projects that push the boundaries of AI and robotics.
You will participate in brainstorming sessions and design reviews, providing input based on your understanding of mechanical systems. Your contributions will help shape the direction of projects, and you will have the opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals in the field. Throughout your internship, you will document your findings and assist in the preparation of reports that detail your work and its impact on ongoing projects.
