Overview
Schonfeld is seeking a Head of Fund Accounting to oversee fund accounting for a multi-strategy hedge fund. You'll manage the third-party administrator and lead the fund close and audit process. This role requires 10+ years of fund accounting experience.
Job Description
Who you are
You have over 10 years of fund accounting experience, demonstrating a deep understanding of the complexities involved in managing fund accounting for a multi-strategy hedge fund. Your expertise allows you to effectively lead a team and oversee the fund accounting control function, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all financial reporting.
In your previous roles, you have successfully managed relationships with third-party administrators, challenging them to maintain high standards and efficiency. You are skilled in overseeing month-end NAVs, investor capital balances, and fund closes, ensuring that all processes are executed smoothly and timely.
You possess strong analytical skills and apply professional skepticism in your work, allowing you to evaluate the reasonableness of inputs received from upstream teams. Your judgment calls are informed by a wealth of experience, making you a reliable escalation point for fund accounting issues across the firm.
Your leadership style is hands-on, and you thrive in environments that require daily involvement in execution and cross-functional problem-solving. You are adept at partnering with various teams, including Portfolio Finance, Valuations, Ops, IR, and Compliance, to ensure seamless operations and timely issue resolution.
Desirable
You have a track record of identifying and driving process improvement initiatives, including automation efforts that enhance scalability and reduce manual controls. Your ability to support new product launches from an accounting and operational standpoint showcases your versatility and strategic thinking.
What you'll do
As the Head of Fund Accounting, you will own the fund accounting oversight for a multi-strategy platform, ensuring that all accounting functions are executed with precision. You will manage and challenge the third-party administrator, overseeing the month-end NAVs and investor capital balances to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
You will lead the year-end fund audits, applying your professional skepticism and sound accounting judgment to evaluate the results and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Your role will involve close collaboration with various teams to support investor reporting and regulatory data requests, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and aligned.
In addition to your oversight responsibilities, you will lead and develop a primarily New York-based fund accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. You will identify opportunities for process enhancements and drive initiatives that improve efficiency and scalability within the fund accounting function.
Your position will require you to act as a last line of defense, evaluating the reasonableness of inputs received from upstream teams and escalating issues when results do not meet expectations. You will play a critical role in supporting new product launches, ensuring that accounting and operational considerations are integrated into the planning process.
What we offer
At Schonfeld, we offer a competitive compensation package, with a salary range of $220,000 to $250,000, along with performance bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package. You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that values collaboration and innovation, contributing to the success of a leading multi-strategy hedge fund.
Join us and be part of a team that is dedicated to excellence in fund accounting and financial management. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
