Overview

Sentry is hiring a Senior Mobile Engineer to lead the development of their Android SDK. You'll work with advanced Android technologies and contribute to innovative features for software monitoring tools. This role requires deep expertise in Android development.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in mobile engineering, specifically with Android development β€” you've built and maintained SDKs or libraries that are used by developers worldwide. Your deep understanding of Android's architecture and APIs allows you to create efficient and robust applications that enhance user experience.

You are proficient in using Jetpack Compose and other modern Android frameworks β€” you enjoy diving into the latest technologies and applying them to solve complex challenges. Your experience with performance monitoring and debugging tools makes you adept at optimizing applications for speed and reliability.

You thrive in collaborative environments β€” working closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver high-quality software is something you excel at. Your strong communication skills enable you to articulate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You are passionate about building tools that improve the developer experience β€” you understand the importance of creating accessible and user-friendly software. Your commitment to quality and performance drives you to continuously improve your work and the tools you develop.

Desirable

Experience with profiling and session replay features would be a plus β€” you have a keen interest in enhancing user interactions and understanding user behavior through advanced monitoring techniques.

What you'll do

As a Senior Mobile Engineer at Sentry, you will take ownership of the Android SDK β€” guiding its development from core architecture to final product experience. You will pioneer exciting new features that enhance the monitoring capabilities of mobile applications, ensuring that developers can easily integrate Sentry's tools into their projects.

You will collaborate with a team of experts to dive deep into Android's most advanced technologies β€” from powerful new APIs to the fundamentals of the Android framework. Your role will involve designing and implementing features that process billions of events daily, ensuring that the SDK remains robust and efficient.

You will participate in code reviews and mentor junior engineers β€” sharing your knowledge and expertise to help grow the team's capabilities. Your insights will contribute to the overall technical direction of the SDK, influencing design decisions and architectural improvements.

You will engage with the developer community to gather feedback and understand their needs β€” using this information to inform future development and enhancements. Your work will directly impact how developers interact with Sentry's tools, making their lives easier and their software better.

What we offer

Sentry embraces a hybrid work model, allowing you to balance in-office collaboration with remote work flexibility. You'll have the opportunity to work with a talented team dedicated to building innovative software monitoring solutions. We believe in fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can contribute to our mission of improving software quality.

Join us in our mission to help developers write better software faster β€” your contributions will play a crucial role in shaping the future of mobile app monitoring. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
