SFMOMA is hiring a Senior Editor to oversee the planning, editing, and production of museum publications. You'll ensure high standards for content and design while managing multiple projects. This role requires strong organizational skills and a passion for art.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in editing and publishing, with experience in managing large-scale projects. Your attention to detail ensures that all publications meet high standards for content and design. You thrive in collaborative environments and are passionate about the arts, understanding the importance of inclusive narratives in museum publications.

You possess excellent communication skills, allowing you to work effectively with various departments and stakeholders. Your ability to mentor and guide junior staff members is a key asset, as you help foster a supportive and productive team environment. You are proactive in problem-solving and can manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and quality outcomes.

What you'll do

As the Senior Editor, you will oversee the planning and production of various museum publications, including exhibition catalogues and digital content. You will work closely with the Director of Publications to refine workflows and implement best practices in publishing and production. Your role will involve coordinating with designers, writers, and other departments to ensure that all publications reflect the museum's mission and values.

You will take the lead in managing timelines and project milestones, ensuring that all publications are completed on schedule. Your expertise will guide the editorial process, from initial concept development through to final production. You will also be responsible for mentoring other staff members, sharing your knowledge of publishing standards and practices to enhance the overall quality of the museum's publications.
