Who you are

You have a strong background in project management with a focus on technical aspects, particularly in the big data domain. Your experience includes leading teams to develop scalable and fault-tolerant distributed systems, ensuring that projects align with client initiatives and business requirements. You are comfortable interfacing with high-level clients, including CIOs and VPs, to understand their strategic needs and translate them into actionable technology solutions. You possess excellent communication skills and can effectively manage a team while also being hands-on with coding when necessary. Your understanding of agile methodologies allows you to adapt to changing project requirements and deliver results efficiently.

You have a solid foundation in big data technologies and are familiar with the Hadoop ecosystem, including tools like HDFS, MapReduce, and Spark. Your expertise extends to database modeling, data mining, and warehousing, enabling you to architect and implement robust big data solutions. You are proactive in staying updated on the latest technologies to ensure the best return on investment for both clients and your organization. Your leadership skills are complemented by your ability to mentor and guide developers in their daily tasks, fostering a collaborative and productive team environment.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms and data integration tools is a plus, as is familiarity with data transformation and automation processes. You may also have experience in defining technical requirements and exploring new big data technologies within a parallel processing environment.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead a team of developers to design and implement a highly scalable big data platform. You will be responsible for building a delivery plan in collaboration with domain experts and ensuring that the team stays on track to meet project milestones. Your daily interactions with clients will involve understanding their needs and aligning your team's efforts with their strategic goals. You will also play a key role in hiring and training new team members, shaping the future of Sigmoid.

You will guide your team in the design and development of distributed components, ensuring that they are fault-tolerant and capable of handling massive data sets. Your hands-on coding experience will allow you to step in and assist with development tasks as needed, maintaining a strong technical presence within the team. You will define the team structure and work closely with stakeholders to ensure that all technical requirements are met.

Your role will also involve staying current with industry trends and technologies, allowing you to recommend improvements and innovations that can enhance the platform's capabilities. You will be responsible for overseeing the integration of various data sources and ensuring that the platform can efficiently process and analyze data from multiple channels.
