What you'll do

As a PhD Autonomy Engineer Intern at Skydio, you will focus on developing reinforcement learning algorithms that enhance the planning and control capabilities of our autonomous drones. You will work on training policies that adapt to complex 3D environments, ensuring robust obstacle avoidance and efficient navigation. Your research will directly impact how our drones operate in real-world scenarios, from urban environments to challenging terrains.

You will collaborate with a team of experts in artificial intelligence and robotics, contributing to the design and implementation of scalable datasets and training loops. Your work will involve fusing learned cost shaping with trajectory optimization to achieve smooth and agile flight. You will also engage in domain randomization and residual learning to improve the performance of our systems.
