Job Description
Who you are
You hold a Bachelor's degree in engineering and have experience in designing and developing automated manufacturing systems. You possess strong skills in electrical and software design, and you are familiar with motion control and robotic systems. Your expertise includes writing concise and well-documented machine automation software, and you have a knack for developing user-friendly UI/HMIs that simplify machine operation and troubleshooting. You are adept at designing electrical and pneumatic systems tailored for manufacturing environments, and you have experience managing the build, integration, testing, and validation of complex systems. You are a problem solver who can provide expert support for existing automation systems and collaborate effectively with partner teams to address root causes.
Desirable
Experience with SCADA and MES systems integration is a plus, as well as familiarity with automation tools and methodologies. A background in aerospace or a related field would be beneficial, and any knowledge of fluidic systems would enhance your candidacy.
What you'll do
As an Automation & Controls Engineer at SpaceX, you will lead the design and development of complex automated manufacturing and test systems from concept to production. You will own the electrical and software design aspects of these systems, ensuring they meet the rigorous demands of our manufacturing processes. Your role will involve designing and developing motion control and robotic systems to address specific manufacturing and testing needs. You will write and maintain machine automation software that is not only functional but also well-documented for ease of understanding and use. Additionally, you will develop simple UI/HMIs that enhance the usability of machines, making them easier to operate and troubleshoot. You will manage the build, integration, testing, and validation of electrical and fluidic systems, ensuring they operate seamlessly within our manufacturing environment. Your expertise will also be crucial in architecting and implementing the integration of manufacturing machinery into SCADA and MES systems, providing a cohesive operational framework. You will be expected to provide expert support for existing automation systems, working closely with partner teams to identify and correct root causes of any issues that arise.
