SpaceX is seeking a Senior Automation & Controls Engineer to develop automated solutions for the Starship production line. You'll design and activate hardware and software systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards. This role requires expertise in electrical engineering and automation technologies.

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in automation and controls engineering, with a strong background in designing and implementing automated systems for complex production environments. Your expertise in electrical engineering allows you to create compliant control panels and schematics that meet industry standards. You are proficient in AutoCAD and have experience with embedded Linux systems, enabling you to contribute effectively to the development of innovative solutions for aerospace applications.

You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working alongside talented engineers to tackle challenging problems. Your hands-on approach to engineering means you are comfortable with both hardware and software aspects of automation. You have a keen eye for detail and are committed to delivering high-quality results that enhance production efficiency.

Desirable

Experience with aerospace or automotive industries is a plus, as is familiarity with NFPA79/NEC/UL508A standards. You are open to learning new technologies and methodologies that can improve automation processes. A background in project management or team leadership would also be beneficial as you work with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.

What you'll do

In this role, you will participate in the conceptual development of new equipment, balancing product specifications with process requirements and cost constraints. You will design and lay out industrial electrical control panels, ensuring compliance with relevant safety standards. Your responsibilities will include creating electrical, pneumatic, and fluid schematics that support the production of SpaceX's Starship spacecraft.

You will collaborate with a team of engineers to develop automated solutions that streamline production processes. This includes activating hardware and software systems that enhance the efficiency of the Starship production line. You will also support the transport and storage solutions for Starship vehicles, ensuring that all systems operate smoothly and effectively.

Your role will involve troubleshooting and optimizing existing automation systems, as well as implementing new technologies that can improve production capabilities. You will be expected to document your work thoroughly, providing clear and concise reports on system performance and improvements.
