Overview
SpaceX is hiring an Avionics Technician to operate PCB assembly machines for circuit board manufacturing. You'll work with SMT placement and functional testing on flight hardware. This role requires 2+ years of experience in PCB assembly.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate and at least 2 years of experience using hand tools in a technical environment. Your background includes working with PCB assembly, where you've developed a strong proficiency in soldering and familiarity with SMT equipment. You understand technical documentation, engineering drawings, and schematics, which allows you to follow work instructions accurately and suggest improvements when necessary. Your communication and organizational skills are excellent, enabling you to document non-conformances and associated rework clearly and precisely. You are comfortable using computers and have experience with MS Office and shop floor management software (ERP).
Desirable
Having 5+ years of experience in PCB assembly is a plus, as is holding IPC or JSTD certification for soldering proficiency. Your ability to perform optical and x-ray inspections will be beneficial in ensuring the quality of the circuit boards you manufacture.
What you'll do
In this role, you will operate PCB assembly machines to manufacture circuit boards, focusing on SMT placement, reflow, and solder print processes. You will be responsible for conformal coating, masking, and epoxy application, ensuring that all components are kitted and measured accurately. Routine inspection and maintenance of equipment will be part of your daily tasks, along with performing functional testing on flight hardware to ensure it meets SpaceX's high standards. You will inspect PCBAs for defects and maintain tooling and consumable supply inventory, ensuring that production runs smoothly. Following work instructions is crucial, and you will be expected to document any non-conformances and associated rework, quickly returning non-conforming products back into the normal workflow. You will independently perform verifications and document results in a clear, precise, and complete manner, contributing to the overall efficiency and quality of the manufacturing process.
What we offer
At SpaceX, you will be part of a team that is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology and exploring the stars. We offer a dynamic work environment where your contributions will directly impact the future of space exploration. You will have opportunities for professional growth and development, working alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds in our team.
