SpaceX is hiring an Avionics Systems Engineer for the Starship project to bridge the gap between vehicle analysis, design, production, and operations. You'll work on electrical design, troubleshooting avionics subsystems, and supporting vehicle operations in Hawthorne, CA.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in electrical engineering, with experience in avionics systems and embedded Linux — you've worked on complex systems that require a deep understanding of hardware and software integration. Your troubleshooting skills are top-notch, allowing you to quickly identify and resolve issues in high-pressure environments.
You thrive in collaborative settings, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration of avionics systems into the Starship vehicle — your ability to communicate technical concepts clearly makes you a valuable team member. You are passionate about aerospace technology and are excited about the prospect of contributing to missions that aim to explore beyond Earth.
What you'll do
As an Avionics Systems Engineer, you will represent the avionics system throughout all stages of integration, from production and testing to launch readiness — your role will involve triaging and troubleshooting electrical hardware issues on an aggressive production schedule. You will drive future improvements to minimize the recurrence of issues, ensuring the reliability of the avionics systems.
You will support vehicle pad and flight operations as an avionics operator, responsible for evaluating vehicle health and resolving issues in real-time — your recommendations will guide the path forward during critical operations. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of new avionics vehicle architectures that minimize mass, cost, and labor through collaboration with adjacent teams.
What we offer
At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team that is dedicated to making space travel a reality for humanity — we offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth in a fast-paced environment. You will have the chance to work on groundbreaking technology that has the potential to change the future of human exploration.
