Who you are

You have a comprehensive understanding of CMM programming and GD&T, with experience in precision inspection of mechanical parts and assemblies. You thrive in a cross-functional environment, collaborating with machinists and engineering teams to ensure the highest quality standards are met. Your attention to detail allows you to spot interpretation issues and ensure conformance to specifications and drawings. You are skilled in selecting and utilizing standard gauges to verify quality and inspect feature tolerances accurately.

You possess a strong background in programming and operating CMM machines, including bridge style machines with up to 5-axis head motion. Your technical expertise enables you to create, maintain, and organize programs effectively, ensuring they are retained and verified for future use. You are committed to increasing the accuracy and first article success rate of manufactured components, contributing to the overall success of the Bastrop machining area.

Desirable

Experience with advanced CMM programming software and familiarity with machining operations management would be beneficial. A background in aerospace or similar industries is a plus, as is knowledge of additional inspection techniques and tools.

What you'll do

In your role as a CMM Programmer at SpaceX, you will perform precision inspections on mechanical parts, components, and assemblies, ensuring they meet the required specifications. You will be responsible for conducting first article inspections, in-process checks, and final inspections, utilizing both CMM and surface plate verification methods. Your role will involve interpreting engineering drawings and applying GD&T principles to ensure accuracy in measurements and evaluations.

You will collaborate closely with machinists and engineering teams to identify areas for improvement in manufacturing processes, aiming to enhance the accuracy and success rates of components produced in the Bastrop area. Your expertise in CMM programming will be crucial as you create and maintain inspection programs, ensuring they are organized and accessible for future use.

Additionally, you will be tasked with selecting the appropriate tools and gauges for inspections, ensuring that feature tolerances are met with the required accuracy. Your ability to spot interpretation issues and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams will be essential in driving quality improvements.
