Overview

SpaceX is hiring an Avionics Integration & Test Engineer to oversee acceptance and qualification tests of satellite electrical systems. You'll work with embedded systems and electrical architecture in Hawthorne, CA.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in electrical engineering, particularly in avionics systems, with experience in acceptance and qualification testing. Your deep understanding of satellite electrical architecture allows you to effectively evaluate and troubleshoot hardware failures. You possess critical thinking skills and can work independently under ambiguous requirements, demonstrating engineering intuition in your approach to problem-solving.

You are comfortable interfacing with software engineers to enhance the integration of electrical systems and have experience developing automated testing procedures. Your familiarity with electrical ground support equipment design and validation is essential for ensuring the reliability of satellite systems. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are eager to contribute to the mission of enabling human life on Mars.

Desirable

Experience with telemetry systems and hardware investigations is a plus. Familiarity with continuous integration test regression systems will help you excel in this role. You may also have experience in proposing design improvements based on failure mode evaluations, which will be valuable in enhancing the performance of our satellite systems.

What you'll do

As an Avionics Integration & Test Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and validating electrical ground support equipment for testing Starshield satellites. You will evaluate non-conforming electrical hardware to determine root cause failure modes and propose design improvements to enhance system reliability. Your role will involve developing and automating vehicle checkout procedures for both integrated self-tests and early-life mortality screens, ensuring that all systems function correctly before deployment.

You will collaborate closely with software engineers to improve SpaceX-developed systems, ensuring seamless integration between hardware and software components. Your responsibilities will also include evaluating proposed flight designs for integration and assessing their impacts on vehicle-level checkouts. You will maintain continuous integration test regression systems, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the testing process.
