Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Materials R&D Technician for Silicon Crystal Growth to partner with engineering in developing high-quality silicon ingots and wafers for solar cell fabrication. This role requires hands-on experience with silicon ingot pulling equipment and process development.

You are a motivated individual with a strong interest in materials research and development, particularly in silicon crystal growth. You have a foundational understanding of the processes involved in silicon ingot and wafer fabrication, and you are eager to learn and contribute to cutting-edge technology in the aerospace industry. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols ensure that you handle materials and equipment responsibly. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with engineers to optimize processes and achieve project goals.

What you'll do

As a Materials R&D Technician, you will be responsible for bringing online state-of-the-art silicon ingot and wafer fabrication lines. You will partner with engineering teams to drive equipment setup, calibration, and troubleshooting, ensuring that all processes are running smoothly. Your role will involve preparing raw materials and components for crystal growth, executing design of experiments (DOEs) to optimize recipes, and characterizing the quality of silicon ingots and wafers. You will also maintain and calibrate lab equipment, ensuring compliance with environmental health and safety (EHS) protocols.
