Who you are

You have a strong background in fire protection engineering, with experience in fire hazard and risk assessment, building and fire codes, and life safety systems. Your expertise includes fire detection, alarm systems, and sprinkler system design, ensuring safety in complex environments. You are familiar with hazardous material analysis and have a keen understanding of compliance requirements for various facilities. You possess excellent analytical skills and can develop technical reports and presentations effectively.

You are detail-oriented and have a solid grasp of engineering design principles, allowing you to support construction teams with field solutions. Your ability to collaborate with various stakeholders, including facility construction teams and local authorities, is essential for success in this role. You are proactive in identifying potential fire hazards and developing strategies to mitigate risks.

What you'll do

As a Fire Protection Engineer at SpaceX, you will support engineering design, analysis, and specifications for facility fire and life safety systems. You will develop building and fire code compliance documents, ensuring that all designs meet regulatory standards. Your role will involve conducting fire and life safety code reviews and analyses, as well as preparing and presenting technical reports to stakeholders.

You will also be responsible for performing hazardous material analysis for compliance purposes, including chemical classification and inventory management. Supporting facility construction teams, you will develop field solutions and assist in commissioning activities during pre-test and AHJ testing phases for launch site facility builds. Your expertise will be crucial in developing Alternate Means & Methods (AM&M) to help meet performance-based design criteria.
