Who you are

You have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate and at least 3 years of experience programming sinker EDM machines. Your background includes 1+ years of CNC programming for machining electrodes, and you have a strong understanding of electrode design and production. You are detail-oriented, capable of optimizing machining parameters, and familiar with measurement and inspection techniques for tight tolerance parts. Your experience includes performing preventative maintenance on EDM machines and supporting various machining functions in a production environment.

Desirable

You have 5+ years of experience with CNC EDM, which enhances your ability to contribute to the team effectively. Your familiarity with creating conversational programs and operating both sinker and wire EDM machines sets you apart as a candidate. You are proactive in developing and making required fixturing to support the EDM area, ensuring smooth operations.

What you'll do

As an EDM Machinist at SpaceX, you will create conversational programs and set up or operate sinker and wire EDM machines to produce complex molds and die sets. You will collaborate with the design team to optimize electrode design and machine electrodes to required tolerances while meeting expected completion dates. Your role will involve developing, tracking, and optimizing machining parameters for different materials, ensuring high-quality production standards. You will also perform preventative maintenance on EDM machines and engage in various machining functions to support shop operations. Measurement and inspection of tight tolerance parts using gauges, indicators, and micrometers will be a critical part of your responsibilities, ensuring that all produced parts meet stringent quality requirements.
