Job Description
Who you are
You have a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, materials engineering, manufacturing engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, or another STEM field. With at least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing, quality, or safety role, you are driven and thrive in collaborative environments. You are recognized as a subject matter expert in process safety and are eager to contribute to the design and testing of innovative launch vehicles.
You possess strong analytical skills, enabling you to perform risk assessments on complex industrial machinery and design functional safety systems. Your experience includes conducting PFMEAs to uphold safe manufacturing processes, and you are comfortable analyzing tooling and ground support equipment for safety and load factors. As a proactive communicator, you can effectively engage with key stakeholders to ensure compliance and efficiency in production processes.
What you'll do
In this role, you will establish safety tools and procedures that ensure compliance and efficiency for production process planning and optimization. You will perform risk assessments on complex industrial machinery and design functional safety systems, including Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and Safety Integrity Levels (SIL). As the department's Laser Safety Officer (LSO), you will oversee safety protocols related to laser operations. You will also conduct PFMEAs to maintain safe manufacturing processes and provide safety design guidance on high-pressure systems, attending test readiness reviews to ensure all safety measures are in place.
Your contributions will directly impact the safety and efficiency of SpaceX's manufacturing processes, as you analyze tooling and ground support equipment for appropriate safety and load factors. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams to integrate safety considerations into the design and testing phases of new technologies. Your role is crucial in fostering a culture of safety within the organization, ensuring that all team members are aware of and adhere to safety protocols.
