Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in opto-mechanical or electro-optical engineering, with experience in laser communication system development. Your expertise includes design, analysis, and validation of complex systems, ensuring high performance and reliability in challenging environments. You are familiar with verification testing processes, including environmental qualification and fault injection testing, and can represent laser communications systems in cross-disciplinary discussions. You are detail-oriented and capable of defining requirements for high-data-rate laser communication systems, ensuring seamless integration with satellite manufacturers' spacecraft.
What you'll do
In this role, you will own the design, testing, integration, and on-orbit operations for the Starshield Mini Space Laser. You will apply your expertise to develop laser communication systems, participating in verification testing to ensure systems meet rigorous performance standards. You will collaborate with various teams to resolve issues and define requirements that enable high-speed, low-latency connectivity in orbit. Your work will directly contribute to national security efforts, leveraging SpaceX's advanced technologies to support government operations.
