Who you are
You have a strong background in engineering, particularly in propulsion systems, and are passionate about space exploration. Your experience includes developing integration, manufacturing, and test processes, and you have a solid understanding of fluid systems. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are eager to contribute to the success of the M1D Refurbishment team at SpaceX.
You possess excellent problem-solving skills and are comfortable troubleshooting hardware issues. Your ability to work with cross-functional teams, including avionics and flight software, allows you to integrate various engineering disciplines effectively. You are proactive and take accountability for your work, ensuring that all processes related to the qualification and servicing of Merlin engines are executed efficiently.
You are detail-oriented and have experience in maintaining process specifications and master planning documents. Your knowledge of fleet configuration management and flight readiness checks is essential for ensuring the reliability of the engines. You are also familiar with post-operation data review and are committed to continual improvement in engineering practices.
Desirable
Experience with rocket propulsion systems or aerospace engineering is a plus. Familiarity with rapid prototyping and agile methodologies will help you adapt to the fast-paced environment at SpaceX. You are open to learning new technologies and methodologies that can enhance the efficiency of the refurbishment processes.
What you'll do
As a Propulsion Engineer on the M1D Refurbishment team, you will be responsible for developing and refining integration, manufacturing, and test processes for the Merlin engines. Your role will involve driving continual improvements to ensure reliable and timely engine refurbishments, which are critical for maintaining SpaceX's rapid launch cadence.
You will collaborate closely with other engineers to troubleshoot hardware issues and resolve anomalies that may arise during the refurbishment process. Your responsibilities will include conducting flight readiness checks and ensuring that all systems are operational before each launch.
You will also be involved in the creation and maintenance of process specifications and master planning documents, which are vital for tracking the refurbishment progress and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
