You have a strong background in software engineering with experience in developing reliable and autonomous systems — your expertise in Python and Java allows you to write efficient code for complex satellite operations. You are familiar with DevOps practices and have a solid understanding of Linux environments, which helps you manage and deploy software effectively. Your experience with REST APIs enables you to design and implement robust interfaces for satellite telemetry and alerting systems.

You possess good systems knowledge of satellite constellations and understand the intricacies involved in monitoring and diagnosing on-orbit issues — your analytical skills allow you to determine suitable recovery procedures and implement long-term solutions. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with other engineering disciplines such as GNC, Hardware, and RF to ensure seamless operations.

What you'll do

As a Software Engineer on the Starshield GNC Operations Software team, you will be responsible for writing software that facilitates the highly reliable and autonomous operations of the satellite constellation. You will engage in a variety of projects, including developing full-stack operations tooling and autonomous satellite fault detection, isolation, and recovery (FDIR) systems. Your role will also involve designing payload interfaces and contributing to ground service DevOps practices.

You will monitor constellation performance on a day-to-day basis, conducting on-orbit investigations that require a deep understanding of the entire satellite system. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will diagnose issues and implement effective recovery strategies, ensuring the operational integrity of the Starshield program. Your contributions will directly impact national security efforts by leveraging SpaceX's advanced satellite technology.
