Overview
SpaceX is hiring a Software Engineer for the Integration & System Validation team to validate cellular network features for the Starlink Direct to Cell program. You'll work with technologies like Java, C, and Python to ensure seamless connectivity across devices. This role requires experience in software development and testing.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in software engineering with experience in validating and testing complex systems — your expertise in programming languages such as Java, C, and Python allows you to develop robust test cases and automation scripts. You understand the intricacies of cellular networks and have a keen interest in 4G and 5G technologies, which enables you to collaborate effectively with RAN developers on new features. Your analytical skills help you assess performance metrics and identify areas for improvement in the Direct to Cell network.
You are detail-oriented and possess a solid understanding of software and hardware test infrastructure — your experience in creating automated tests ensures that new features are thoroughly validated before deployment. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to enhance developer efficiency and streamline testing processes. Your ability to communicate technical concepts clearly makes you a valuable asset in discussions about system validation and integration.
Desirable
Experience with cellular radio access networks (RAN) and familiarity with interoperability testing would be advantageous — you are eager to learn and adapt to new technologies as they emerge in the fast-paced world of satellite communications. A background in performance testing and optimization will further enhance your contributions to the team.
What you'll do
As a Software Engineer in the Integration & System Validation team, you will focus on validating cellular RAN features for the Starlink Direct to Cell program — your primary responsibility will be to develop and execute automated tests that verify the functionality of new features. You will collaborate with RAN developers to design test cases that ensure seamless interoperability across various cellular devices. Your role will involve analyzing performance data and providing insights to improve the overall efficiency of the network.
You will be responsible for maintaining the software and hardware test infrastructure that supports rapid development and validation processes — this includes setting up testing environments and ensuring that all necessary tools are available for the team. You will also participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of testing methodologies, helping to establish best practices within the team.
In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will engage in cross-functional collaboration with other teams to align on project goals and timelines — your ability to communicate effectively will be crucial in ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and involved in the validation process. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative solutions that enhance the user experience for Starlink customers.
