Who you are

You have 5+ years of professional experience in welding, specifically with gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), and gas metal arc welding (GMAW). Your expertise includes selecting base materials and welding materials, as well as controlling production weld quality. You have a strong background in enforcing safety standards and mentoring junior welders, ensuring that your team operates efficiently and safely.

With at least 2 years of experience in a leadership role, you are skilled in personnel management and have a proven track record of supervising teams effectively. You understand the importance of communication and collaboration in achieving project goals, and you are adept at providing constructive feedback to your team members. Your ability to review and edit documentation ensures that all work reports and records are accurate and up to date.

What you'll do

As a Supervisor, Welding, you will develop and evaluate welding procedures to ensure they meet industry standards. You will assist with tooling and fixturing designs required for welding operations, selecting appropriate materials for each project. Your role will involve controlling production weld quality and ensuring compliance with welding codes and standards.

You will provide daily support to the launch projects welding team, supervising their work and offering mentorship to junior welders. Planning and scheduling work assignments will be a key part of your responsibilities, as well as assessing completed work to ensure it meets quality standards. You will also monitor and approve employee timekeeping records, ensuring that all team members are accurately accounted for.

In addition to your supervisory duties, you will communicate performance expectations to your team and provide collaborative direction. You will be responsible for assessing candidates during the hiring process and making recommendations based on their qualifications. Your leadership will help foster a culture of safety and excellence within the welding team, contributing to SpaceX's mission of enabling human life on Mars.
