Job Description
Who you are
You have a Bachelor's degree or an associate degree and at least 4 years of experience in gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), or gas metal arc welding (GMAW), or 8 years of professional experience in metal fabrication. You have spent 2+ years in a leadership role, managing teams effectively and ensuring high standards of workmanship. Your technical expertise allows you to provide support to your welding team, and you are familiar with welding codes and quality control processes.
You are skilled in planning and scheduling work, assigning tasks, and assessing completed work. You understand the importance of safety on the production floor and enforce site and personnel safety protocols. Your communication skills enable you to convey performance expectations clearly and provide collaborative direction to your team members.
What you'll do
As a Supervisor in Welding, you will lead and manage a staff of approximately 30 technicians or welders, overseeing daily schedules and workflow on the production floor. You will provide technical support to the welding team and work closely with management and engineering teams to streamline fit-up and welding processes. Your responsibilities will include controlling production weld quality and applying welding codes to maintain high workmanship standards.
You will review work instructions and make recommendations for changes as needed, assess candidates during the hiring process, and communicate how successful performance will be measured. Your role will also involve planning and scheduling work, assigning tasks, and assessing completed work to ensure efficiency and quality in production.
