Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in engineering with at least 5 years of experience in development testing — you've led teams and managed projects that require precision and reliability in testing complex systems. Your expertise in C, C++, and Python allows you to design and implement effective test strategies that ensure product quality. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy mentoring junior engineers, helping them grow their skills and confidence.
You are detail-oriented and have a knack for problem-solving — you can identify potential issues in designs and processes before they become critical problems. Your experience with test equipment design and fabrication means you can create innovative solutions that enhance testing efficiency. You understand the importance of maintaining high standards in testing and are committed to continuous improvement in your team's processes.
Desirable
Experience with aerospace or defense projects is a plus, as it gives you insight into the unique challenges of developing technology for national security. Familiarity with ground systems and spacecraft testing will help you hit the ground running in this role. You are adaptable and open to learning new technologies and methodologies that can improve your team's performance.
What you'll do
As the Lead Development Test Engineer for the Starshield project, you will oversee a team of technicians and engineers dedicated to testing SpaceX's newest products. Your responsibilities will include creating test stand and equipment concepts, as well as fabrication drawings and wiring schematics. You will manage the design and fabrication of test racks and harnesses, ensuring that all systems are ready for use by external teams.
You will actively participate in the development of testing protocols and procedures, ensuring that all tests are conducted efficiently and effectively. Your leadership will be crucial in forecasting and controlling inventories for all parts used in the build center, allowing your team to operate smoothly and without delays.
Collaboration is key in this role — you will work closely with other engineering teams to ensure that testing aligns with product development timelines. Your ability to communicate effectively will help bridge the gap between different teams and ensure that everyone is on the same page regarding testing requirements and outcomes.
