Who you are

You have a strong background in welding engineering, with experience in developing and optimizing welding processes for complex assemblies. Your expertise includes various welding techniques such as electron beam welding, laser beam welding, and gas tungsten arc welding. You are comfortable collaborating with design and manufacturing engineers to ensure the highest quality standards in welding practices. You possess a keen eye for detail and are committed to enforcing standardized practices across multiple welded assemblies. You thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and are adept at providing direction to teams on correct welding techniques.

Desirable

Experience with advanced welding technologies and a solid understanding of materials engineering will be beneficial. Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing processes and standards is a plus. You are proactive in identifying areas for improvement and have a track record of implementing effective solutions in welding operations.

What you'll do

In this role, you will develop, qualify, and optimize welding designs and processes for SpaceX’s launch vehicles and spacecraft. You will support production operations by providing guidance to manufacturing engineers and welders, ensuring that correct techniques are applied in a timely manner. Your responsibilities will include interfacing with design and manufacturing teams to make informed welding judgment calls and improvements. You will also be tasked with enforcing standardized practices and procedures on multiple welded assemblies, contributing to the overall efficiency and quality of production.

You will play a crucial role in supporting the manufacturing of Falcon 9 and Starship launch vehicles, as well as Dragon spacecraft and Starlink satellites. Your work will directly impact the success of SpaceX’s mission to enable human life on Mars. You will be involved in troubleshooting and root cause analysis, working closely with cross-functional teams to resolve any welding-related issues that arise during production.
