Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in welding engineering, with experience in developing and optimizing welding processes for various techniques. You understand the intricacies of electron beam welding, laser beam welding, gas tungsten arc welding, and more — your expertise allows you to interface effectively with design and manufacturing teams to ensure high-quality welded assemblies. You thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with engineers from different disciplines to enhance welding designs and practices.
You possess a keen analytical mindset, capable of conducting root cause analysis and interpreting mechanical testing results. Your attention to detail ensures that you enforce standardized practices and procedures across multiple welded assemblies, contributing to the overall success of the manufacturing process. You are comfortable in a fast-paced environment and can provide clear direction to manufacturing engineers and welders on correct techniques.
What you'll do
As a Welding Engineer at SpaceX, you will develop, optimize, and qualify weld processes and parameters for a variety of welding techniques. You will support production operations on full-scale welded assemblies, ensuring that manufacturing engineers and welders are equipped with the knowledge to execute correct welding techniques. Your role will involve setting up welding qualification test campaigns and interpreting the results to maintain high standards of weld quality.
You will collaborate closely with design, tooling, automation, and development engineers to improve welded designs for manufacturing. This includes interfacing with non-destructive testing (NDE) personnel to assess weld quality on both development and flight assemblies. Your contributions will be vital in supporting the ambitious goal of enabling human life on Mars through the development of the Starship launch vehicles.
What we offer
At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of space exploration. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development.
