Backend Engineer

Who you are

You have a strong background in backend engineering, particularly in building and maintaining large-scale financial tracking systems. Your experience includes working with cloud-based services, and you are comfortable using technologies such as gRPC, GraphQL, Docker, and Kubernetes. You think of yourself as entrepreneurial and enjoy solving complex problems across various technologies and stacks to enhance user experiences.

You are a generalist who thrives in dynamic environments and can adapt to different challenges as they arise. Your understanding of financial infrastructure allows you to contribute effectively to the Money as a Service (MaaS) team at Stripe. You are eager to collaborate with cross-functional teams and are committed to delivering high-quality solutions that meet user needs.

Desirable

Experience with cloud services like AWS is a plus, as is familiarity with financial systems. You are open to learning new technologies and methodologies that can enhance your contributions to the team. Your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders will be invaluable in this role.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing backend systems that support Stripe's financial products. You will work closely with product managers and other engineers to ensure that the infrastructure is robust and scalable. Your tasks will include developing APIs, optimizing system performance, and ensuring the reliability of financial transactions.

You will also participate in code reviews and contribute to the overall architecture of the systems you work on. Your insights will help shape the direction of the team's projects, and you will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers as they grow in their roles. Collaboration is key, and you will engage with various teams to align on project goals and deliverables.
